Gary Kinnison is Kim's Father. Gary is a former Galactic Patrolman and one of the men responsible for creating the Galactic Patrol. He was involved in an accident that took his left arm (a cybernetic arm has replaced it). Because he lost his arm he wasn't able to become a Lensman, which was his dream.Since then he has retired, living as a farmer with his Son on planet Mqueie.
Gary is saddend to see his Son go off to Earth, but understands that Kim is young and needs to live his own life. When Gary sees that Kim has been given a Lens, he imediatley knows that Kim is needed to carry out a vital mission. Gary then does everything in his power to aid Kim.

SOLL
Soll is Gary's right hand robot. He is very useful,
performing all kinds of duties from maintenance and repair, to having
a link to the Planetary Parameter Alarm. His A.I. system gives him an
interesting personality. Soll is very loyal to Gary, even willing to risk his
own existence to aid the elder Kinnison.
