Kimball Kinnison (Kim for short) is the hero of the story. Kim grew up on Planet Mqueie where his father, Gary Kinnison, had retired to homestead. At the age of 18, Kim was set to leave his home on Mqueie for a more exciting life on Earth. Gary's old buddy, Van Buskirk was to take Kim in his starship the Nosha Bucaming.But fate stepped in.
The Galactic Patrol Vessel Britannia was on a crash course straight for Mqueie. Kim intercepted the ship in his Cycroader, boarded, and landed it haphazardly on the planet. The pilot was a dying Lensman who had barley escaped an attack by the Boskone. This Lensman with Blonde Hair transferred his lens to the young Kinnison, then died shortly there after. Kim's Lens contains vital information the Galactic Patrol needs to defeat the evil Boskone Empire: The location of their Homeworld - The Devil Planet.
Kimball is a good kid, but like most youngsters he's headstrong and bold. He's pretty talented in piloting and combat. Dispite his talents, sharp wits and youth, Kim is kinda nieve.
